REHABILITATION
Rehabilitative techniques can greatly improve your chances of a successful recovery.
ADJUST FIRST, REHAB SECOND
Where we may differ from a physical therapist is that we believe that the motion of a joint must be restored before rehabilitating soft-tissues like muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This makes sure that we are not reinforcing old, dysfunctional motion-patterns within the problem area.
A spinal misalignment cannot be stretched away, it must be adjusted to restore normal function.
We do not start soft-tissue rehabiliation in the Acute Phase of Treatment because this will often irritate an injured area and disrupt healing. We usually wait until the symptoms have been reduced by Adjustments and Therapy before working on re-educating the soft-tissue.
FOR MANY, AN ADJUSTMENT IS ENOUGH
Misaligned vertebrae injure nerves, discs, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Most of our patients heal from Chiropractic Adjustments alone because proper alignment reduces damage to nerves and soft-tissues and then the body’s natural ability to heal takes over.
THERAPEUTIC STRETCHES AND EXERCISES
If you choose us for you care, at some point you will be assessed and taught exercises and stretches that are specific to your condition. In many cases, we are able to determine the exact muscle and side that needs to be re-educated.
The use of stretches and exercises without first restoring proper spinal function only reinforces old, dysfunctional motion-patterns and makes a recovery much more difficult. Adjusting first, rehabbing second is a successful model that has proven itself over-and-over.
EXTREMITY REHABILITATION
Our Rehabilitative Techniques are not limited to the spine. Many patients come to us with Rotator Cuff Problems, IT Band Dysfunction, Knee Conditions, Hip Problems, Wrist and Elbow Problems. Most achieve successful results using our approach to healing.
